Product Designer

Job description

BaseN Corporation enables its customers to translate disjoint streams of data to actionable items and leveraging that to build real businesses on BaseN. We're founded in 2001, have operations in 7 countries and provide a good and stable environment for all of our employees. Our main product is the BaseN Platform, a redundant, distributed collection of services for very high volume data reception, storage, monitoring, analysis, and visualization. We need to expand our international multi-disciplinary team with great team members!

What you, as the content designer, do has a direct impact on the future of the BaseN Platform and the company. You will be responsible for the design point of view of our services and products. A non-exhaustive list of tasks that this might entail are participating in product and planning sessions, doing sketches and prototypes and mockups, designing flows and making sure that what our customers see is a fine-tuned experience. This is a role with a lot of professional growth opportunity.

We are actively looking for someone who can be the voice for design. A voice who can define and set the look and feel for our service. A voice who, together with developers, can build and improve our service - from concepting to wireframes to prototypes to final visual design. A voice that stands for consistency and high-quality in our service.

We think being able to position oneself as an end user is highly desirable in this position. We appreciate prior experience, whether building or using, with developer tools.

We offer flexible working hours and the ability to work remotely from home, your cottage or an island (island not included), modern tools of trade such as a quality laptop and allowance for home office equipment such as a proper chair.

We would appreciate it if you could include a link to your portfolio as well as tell us about your work methodology, principles, professional interests, etc. - think of it as your first task as a communicator for us. Everything is read by real humans who you would potentially be working with.

If you are that voice, lets have a talk what we can achieve together

We are looking for well rounded people who care about their craft, understand software development. While we value a formal degree in design we do not require one - a candidate with strong practical hands-on background, open mind and ability to learn would be an ideal addition to our team.

That being said, here is what we think the ideal team member would have:

  • 5+ years of professional experience within design of SaaS/web-based services
  • experience prototyping with InVision, Figma or similar tools
  • experience building visual identities
  • experience with web development
    • not afraid of getting down in the trenches with HTML, CSS or JavaScript if necessary
  • be an experienced communicator to both internal and external audiences
    • an avid listener for feedback
    • an excellent translator of ideas to concepts to final product

Regarding personality and skills, you should be:

  • comfortable working in a team with multiple specializations
  • able to participate in planning, estimation, and implementation work
  • able to adapt to company working methods and conventions
  • able to produce and maintain documentation of your work
  • ability to conceptualize, test and verify your work
  • able to adopt (agile) development methodologies and tools (especially JIRA and Git)
  • have tenacity, drive, attitude, humility and competency
  • fluent in spoken and written English

Please note you must be an European Union citizen or already have the right to work within the European Union.
